Weight vs. Wait

"My God, My God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, from the words of my groaning?" - Psalm 22:1
Today, we remember how Jesus died for the world. What a weird statement. One single man dying for the WORLD. But if you know God, and the Bible, you know it was not just any man.

Jesus was God.
And he died for YOU.
You no longer need to live trapped by ...
Evil, injustice, fear, anxiety, depression, sorrow, anger, guilt, shame, loneliness, comparison, expectation, people-pleasing, addictions, sickness, disability, abuse ...
This list could keep going.
"For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing,
but to us who are being saved it is the power of God." ~ 1 Cor 1:18
This world is broken. Cursed. NOT HOLY. Not the way God intended it. Satan deceived Eve and Adam, and from that point on, the world has been cursed. Mankind is broken, and our relationship with the Creator is broken.
As much as I hate divorce, it is the perfect example of the brokenness that exists between a Father and His children. We are God's Children, and because of the divorce in the garden, we are separated from Him. Our sin, the sin of the World, and Satan ensure we stay separated from Him.
But because God loves you, he sent you Jesus—for this moment in history—to die. Why?
The weight of sin

You will not know the freedom of forgiveness until you acknowledge the weight of sin you are carrying.
"Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes." - Eph 1:4 NLT
Are you holy? Do you see yourself as 'blameless' or without fault?
...
Jesus does.
Where are you cursed? Where are you at fault?
My explosive temper at my spouse because the house is a mess.
My completely selfish focus on myself even though my co-worker just found out they have a cancer diagnosis.
My passive, not-so-subtle comments about a "friend" who was caught cheating.
I'm going to the bar again because my "friends" might not like me if I don't.
Again - the list can go on and on. Some of the weights we carry are obvious, and some are more subtle. But anyone whose heart is turned from God is trapped in sin, and that is like a weight tied around your neck. Suffocating you and filling your life with anguish. This weight keeps us forever separated (divorced) from God.
But Jesus changed this.
"but God shows His love for us, that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." - Romans 5:8 ESV
Jesus' death on the cross was how he took the penalty for our selfishness so that we could see our Father again. My personal sin no longer weighs me down and separates me from God. I could tell him my sin and be forgiven!
We get visitation with God!
The weight is over

Do you know what awaits you when the weight is lifted?!
Our sins have been forgiven, and we are now redeemed! When something is redeemed, it means a"possession is regained." God regains his possession of us. The divorce can no longer keep Him away from his children! But this cannot happen until Jesus' death on the cross.
"None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory." - 1 Corinthians 2:8
I want you to know freedom and have a relationship with God. I want you to know you are redeemed!
When you do, you will experience peace beyond anything you have ever felt in this world. Let's celebrate Jesus on the cross because of the freedom that awaits us in eternity.
Join me and millions around the world anxiously awaiting the empty tomb! And the defeat Satan has over each and every one of us!
God Bless, Emilie
